Introduction

My name is Jeroen De Dauw. I’m an informatics student in Belgium, spending most of my free time on acquiring new programming skills. I got interested in software development in 2005, and started to program in 2007. Since then I've learned many languages (see my cv) and created multiple applications, both commercial and open source ones. In general, I strive to do the most logical thing in the most efficient way.

I'm most interested in strict sciences. This goes from quantum mechanics to stellar evolution, and from genetics to distributed computing. For me, it's most important to really understand the general principles behind everything, so I can solve problems related to those subjects as they are presented to me. Specific knowledge like formulas is less important, since they can be looked up when the need arises.

At the moment I'm really interested in the following subjects:

For a list of technologies, frameworks and languages I'd like to use in future projects, to (further) familiarize myself with them, see this page.

Now and then I play computer games. Those are either Real Time Strategy (ie C&C Generals, Supreme Commander), Real Time Tactics (ie Word in Conflict, Ground Control) or reflex (ie Audiosurf) games. The main reason I'm doing this is to keep my strategic and tactical skills, as well as my reflexes, honed.

Work

Currently I'm occupied as student, and am freelance software developer as second occupation. I'm looking to participate in innovative projects that allow me to expand my skills and work together with senior developers who I can learn from.

In the past I've done multiple commercial projects (see my cv), as well as some in the open source world (see my cv).
