Cover letter

I am interested in getting a software developer position at Wikimedia Foundation, and decided to inform about my chances after reviewing the job openings page. Since that page indicates that there currently is no such position available, and I'm possibly to junior, I do not expect to get accepted immediately. The main goal of this cover letter is to find out when I could get any position and what it would most likely involve.

The reason I'm interested in a position at Wikimedia Foundation is because I love open source, like working with experienced ad enthusiastic people and have a fitting skill-set. I am active in the MediaWiki community since Google Summer of Code 2009, during which I created the Maps and Semantic Maps extensions. I'm planning to participate in GSoC 2010, and do this MediaWiki project. An overview of my MediaWiki work can be found on my MediaWiki.org user page. I'm interested in both fixed positions as contracted work. I live in Belgium, so can only do remote work.
